Why?
I don't do it for others to see my muscles, I don't do it for others to see my dedication, I don't do it to prove anything, I do it to push myself and make myself mentally strong. When I have difficulties in life, I laugh at them because I know that I have pushed myself through pain, through sickness, through frustration and there is nothing that I can't handle without His help.
btw none of these pictures of me...this is what I will look like soon
In All Weathers
Recently I have been getting out and running. I run in the unexpected warm. I run in the wind. I have even run in the sleet more then a few times. They have been some of the best runs I have ever had. In the beginning they are miserable. I try to avoid the puddles and shield my face from the sleet. But, eventually, I start to love it. The cold invigorates my muscles. I run through the ankle deep puddles purposefully because they feel strangely good on my feet. You never know when you may have a wonderful work out even when it is miserable out. Just get out there...today may be the day you feel how wonderful it is to be strong, to defy the limits of what a human can do.
Back on My Feet
There are wonderful people using their strength to strengthen others...how will you help another grow today?

Pass It On Workout
This week 50+ of my friends and I went to a charity center to load freight containers to send to Haiti. We spent hours lifting heavy boxes full of food, medical supplies, and sanitation products. It was so fun to work in the long lines passing the boxes. The next morning all of us woke up sore but happy. Sometimes you can be creative and help others with your work.
Joy Release
The other day I got somewhere an hour early and I knew there was a battle-field near by. True to form I stripped off my cute black dress and grabbed all my cold gear running clothes. It was truly the best run of my life. There was so much joy in just being able to have the ability to get up and run. I could not stop smiling as I ran through the chilly fields. I met a woman who was 56 and just beginning to run again. It was so wonderful to be able to do this with no previous plans. So keep a bag of running clothes in your car, and don't be afraid to get up and get out.

Side Stitches?
2. What you're eating before you run. What you eat ahead of your run can impact your gastrointestinal tract causing agitation. Notice if you get side stitches when you eat a certain food and then try not eating that food the next time to see if it helps.
3. Elimination. Make sure you've completely moved your bowels before you run.
4. Hydration. Likewise, make sure you're hydrated.
Finally, if you do experience a side stitch. Slow down and massage it using moderate pressure with the heel of your hand. It will usually go away in a few moments.

Outdoor Release Workouts
Today I was privileged to go down to one of my friend's lake house. The entire day we spent swimming to various destinations, kayaking, and going on a long walk. It was so relaxing and yet such an incredible workout. Even when we were just hanging out in the water we were treading so we never really stopped moving. As much as I love working out at the gym...Enjoying nature is a huge workout in and of itself which causes little strain to the muscles and is incredibly fun!

Memorial Day
Running today for those who know the true meaning of heat runs
For those who know what running under stress is
Who know how to run through pain
And for those who no longer can
We thank all those who have served our country

Speed workout
Forgot my running shoes at a friend's house today. I didn't have much time so I did 2 sets of these. They aren't the most painful workouts but it gets your heart going. After the first round or so the timing is super simple.

Get Out and Get Sweaty

Pain
If it was easy every one would do it. Why does everyone treat pain like it is a negative thing? Pain is the ultimate test. Without pain there would be no winners. Without pain we would all be equal. Without pain we would never find out how strong we really are. You may say you love to workout or you love to run but there is no love without sacrifice and no success without pain. If you haven't had to go through pain to get some where you can't be proud of it because it means that you naturally had it or it was handed to you. There is no personal merit in that. Why do we always cheer for the underdogs? Because they are the true champions fighting there way through to success. Nothing in life depends on what has happened to you. NOTHING...there are amputees completing Iron-Mans. There are people who have had worse things happen to them then you can ever imagine and they have used it to make them strong. You can either be miserable or strong...the choice is yours. What's your excuse? You couldn't handle it? You were scared? Is that how you want to live not putting your full strength into anything? Outlast the pain and when it is finished you can look back at the beast and laugh. You can say "do your worst" because I know I will never give up.
Finish Strong...and be proud at the end of each and every work out.
Inner Champion
Today I start training for the new XC season. My coach just retired and we have a new coach who I know will push us harder. But, I have a whole summer to push myself alone, to keep myself accountable, and to find out the runner that I can be. I am not the fastest runner, not even close, but I can be the strongest runner. I can be strong mentally. I can do extra reps. I can work on my form. I can eat well and get sleep. I can be the runner that inspires and brings people up. How will you find your inner champion today?
